Second Use Moves Houses

Second Use, the salvage and preservation organization, has added houses priced to move into their inventory.  This addition is very much in line with their mission of preserving architectural heritage and especially limiting landfill additions.

They began listing houses slated for demolition but priced to move on their site a few months ago and the inventory has since ballooned to twenty properties!

Studio DEC has had the privilege to move several houses in Fremont, Leschi, and Seward among other neighborhoods — with some examples detailed here and here.  Saving these houses from destruction by moving them onto a new lot and foundation (and a little further remodeling in most cases) helps keep quality materials and a piece of history out of the landfill.
